Yippee! I left my day job in December last year and have entered in to the big wide world of freelancing.
Okay so the “big wide world” is my art studio right next door to my bedroom, but still.

One of my Christmas portrait commissions… A 13 year old Thorn.
Charcoal and graphite on A3 Bristol Board.
A courageous young woman at a moment of reflection and contemplation, wearing a pink ribbon, sitting under the peace and calm of a cherry blossom tree. Hand embellished gold border with cherry blossom detail.
An easy single piece case, thankfully as I need to be quick with this 1 (my outdoor workshop is out of action for now so I’m smelling my house out) I really need to start using an alternative in future 𤢠it’s NOT pleasant, it smells even before opening the tin.
If you’re doing this indoors make sure there’s adequate ventilation as it does a nasty piece on the old lungs, preferably use a respirator.
Sculpting… FINALLY!
In fact manically sculpting…can’t stop, won’t stop, the can’t get it out quick enough type of sculpting. Exciting!!!
Sneaky peak…
This should only take a couple of days then hoping to mould mid week and be casting by the weekend. Already have the colours planned, can’t wait to see the result. Feels like it’s been ages since I sculpted, been painting and prepping prints a lot recently. No wips yet till it’s finished.
Getting lots done at the moment thanks to a thyroxine boost so spent yesterday evening sketching 10 designs for my Woodland Teddy miniatures.

I’m varnishing a horse commission today as it’s completely dry (always a good thing!) and ready for a 1st coat.
I’m using Gamvar as this gives a nice finish and allows a much shorter application period* than other varnish as it’s breathable.

…Not really š I’ve just not updated my blog in a few weeks.
Currently still trying to fit in a portrait and a sculpture around some other commitments and work, i.e. a few clay models for children to paint in a nursery, some wall displays and some DTP. Not progressed a great deal with them yet but no huge rush at the moment.
Flagging energy levels about to be recharged with a much needed holiday, and then another week off to recuperate from a week with a 4yr old!
Planning on doing a little sketching for fun while away then finishing off the portrait when I get home (if I forget I’m still on hoilday).
