Horse Commission

This portrait went to it’s new home today.  It was my first horse in oil, used 2 reference photos 1 for the pose the other for the colours.  I changed the background to make the grey pop out more so had to tweek the colours a little to reflect the darker background.  A dappled grey is definitely a challenge to paint but enjoyable!

Gamvar & Comics

Gamvar Varnishing

New Canvas

My 2nd canvas has arrived, Loxley you never fail me!   Needs a little stretch then it’s paint to canvas …after a cuppa.

There’s only going to be a few initial WIP’s as this is for a client wanting a birthday gift, highly doubt the recipient will see this blog (does anybody? 😂 ) but I’ll wait a few months.

Horse Oil Portrait

Starting to put paint to canvas for a new commission later tonight, a horse oil portrait – only a small one but haven’t done a horse in oil before so I’m looking forward to getting started.

Okay scrap that for a few days, canvas was damaged when I opened it 😑 so I’ll relax for the evening for a change instead.

Blackletter & Commission’s

Quiet day at work today so it’s some Gothic Blackletter practice for me. Only my second time and not done any for about 8 months so rusty to say the least.

Got the go ahead for a graphite family portrait this evening and photos have come through for a horse oil portrait. Busy times …shame the day job gets in the way! Right, next up is a quick cheeky Photoshop composite for a birthday card, then bed.
