Pet Sculpture MouldingĀ

Quick post with a new piece finished last night!.. Then finished prepping for the mould tonight followed by the first few thin coats of silicone…

1st stage of moulding – I don’t think this gives too much away

Sculpting… FINALLY!

In fact manically sculpting…can’t stop, won’t stop, the can’t get it out quick enough type of sculpting. Exciting!!!

Sneaky peak…

This should only take a couple of days then hoping to mould mid week and be casting by the weekend. Already have the colours planned, can’t wait to see the result.  Feels like it’s been ages since I sculpted, been painting and prepping prints a lot recently. No wips yet till it’s finished.

Miniature Artwork Sketches and To Do List

Getting lots done at the moment thanks to a thyroxine boost so spent yesterday evening sketching 10 designs for my Woodland Teddy miniatures.

Pet Sculpture

Spent some of my bank holiday sculpting a figurine of my late dog in her favourite spot… the empty bath, here in her “DON’T TURN THE LIGHT ON I’M SLEEPING!” pose.

The basic shape is more or less complete, detail to follow.  Now this is supposed to be a caricature, I just need to keep reminding myself of that and not go too heavy on the realism, if I haven’t already! (It’s a hard habit to break).

I want to do a realistic full body and bust to follow.

I’ve not used polymer clay before as I normally make a mould to cast pieces so use wax/clay or grey clay to model with, but as I’m doing some one-offs I thought it was the ideal time to try it out rather than making a waste mould.

New Canvas

My 2nd canvas has arrived, Loxley you never fail me!   Needs a little stretch then it’s paint to canvas …after a cuppa.

There’s only going to be a few initial WIP’s as this is for a client wanting a birthday gift, highly doubt the recipient will see this blog (does anybody? šŸ˜‚ ) but I’ll wait a few months.

Ornament Restoration

I’ve been given some old garden ornaments to spruce up. They are the Garden Creatures set I made in the mid 90’s so they’ve been out in the elements for about 20 years now, fingers crossed they still look like the same garden creatures by the time I’ve finished.

I’d quite like to make some new garden ornaments sometime, I keep getting design ideas… Hmm, now remembering my cement burnt, skin stripped, finger tips. Now there are protective gloves, I know this… but I don’t like them, so will continue to complain about sore, chemically burnt, finger tips.

It’s nice to be employed as a full time artist but MUCH nicer to be doing it for myself!

Better leave XHTML behind and pick up some HTML5 know-how now too. Mobile Site Full Steam Ahead!
